Adult Education and Spiritual Formation

We never stop learning and growing as Christians.  It is a lifelong task.  We take that seriously at Christ Church, and provide opportunities for study of the Bible, theology, church history, Christian social ethics, prayer and spiritual practices.  We invite you to join us in the journey of spiritual formation.

Bible Study

We currently have several opportunities for Bible study at Christ Church:

Tuesday Morning (7 a.m.) Bible Study group.  For information about joining this group, contact Catherine Rosen.

Tuesday Afternoon (3:30 p.m.) Bible Study group.  For information about joining this group, contact Diane Hinzelman at her home phone (look in the Parish Directory or call the Glebe House at 978-475-0529 if you don't have her number).

Prayer Group

Christ Church has a group of parishioners that faithfully gather twice a month, from September to June, to pray with one another.  These gatherings usually occur on a weekday evening in the North Chapel, and involve a time of sharing, a faith reflection, and a silent meditation followed by a reading of Compline (which is the Night Prayer service in the Episcopal Church’s Prayer Book).  Leadership of the gathering is shared by all the members of the group.  If you would be interested in learning more about this group, please contact Terry Kuhlmann or Doug Crabtree.

Education for Ministry (EFM)

Education For Ministry (EFM) is a four-year program of biblical and theological education for lay people in the church sponsored by the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee), one of the seminaries of the Episcopal Church.  Christ Church and South Church (UCC) jointly sponsor an EFM group here in Andover.

For more information about EFM you can go online, or speak to our resident EFM mentor, Rosemarie Buxton.
