Where Our Outreach Dollars Go

Reaching Out:  locally and globally

Ministries of service, compassion, empowerment and advocacy for the most vulnerable in our community and in the world

The following is an alphabetical list of organizations that have received material, financial and volunteer assistance from Christ Church Andover in the recent past.

Andover Thrift Shop
Christ Church members and friends donate clothing and household items that are sold at low cost to individuals and families in our areas. Items that do not sell are donated to the neediest people in the surrounding communities. This ministry is enabled by thousands of hours of volunteer efforts each year by Christ Church members and friends.

ABC House (A Better Chance)
This nonprofit program offers outstanding students from under-performing urban schools the opportunity to prepare for college at Andover High School, one of Massachusetts' top performing schools. This year's Christ Church Christmas Fair gave some of its proceeds to this worthy cause. On the web at http://andoverabc.org/

Barbara Harris Camp Scholarships
Part of the tithe on the prior year’s fair helped needy children have a summer camp experience at the Barbara C. Harris Camp. Additional funds from the Rector’s Discretionary Fund aided families from our parish to send their children. On the web at http://www.bchcenter.org/

Bread and Roses
Christ Church supports this feeding ministry in Lawrence through financial contributions as well as volunteer support from parishioners. On the web at http://www.breadandroseslawrence.org/

Communities Together (formerly Greater Lawrence Council of Churches)
Christ Church participates in CT to support a variety of ministries in our community: chaplaincies at the hospitals, vacation Bible schools in area churches, an after school program in Hancock Courts for some of Lawrence’s most vulnerable children, and ministries to area nursing homes. We also participate in their annual diaper and underwear drive during Lent.  On the web at http://communitiestogether.cfsites.org/

Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem
We supported the construction of a home for the elderly in Beir Zeit, near Ramallah, in Palestine. In addition, our Good Friday offering each year goes to the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem, supporting ministries of parishes, schools and hospitals throughout the diocese in Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. On the web at http://www.j-diocese.org/

Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts
Through the outreach portion of our annual commitment to the Diocese of Massachusetts (25% or our total assessment), we support literally hundreds of ministries both locally and globally, including feeding programs, AIDS relief in Africa, college chaplaincies, and many other ministries.
