persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?
Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect
the dignity of every human being?
These questions from the Baptismal Covenant remind us of our commitment
to reach out to a hurting world in Christ's name. Mission and outreach
are an essential part of the Christian life. Serving others in Christ's
name should not be thought of as "good works" which earn
us points in heaven or on earth, but the natural outgrowth of a
life that is formed in Christ's image. Christian formation leads
to lives that reach out in love and service, especially to those
who are least in the world's eyes. In serving others, we serve Christ.
