Youth Groups
Rite-13 - 7th and 8th Graders
Adam Shoemaker
Description of Rite-13.

Rite-13 is the first two-year phase of our Journey to Adulthood curriculum and is made up of either 6th and 7th graders or 7th and 8th graders, depending upon the year. The 2017-18 program year will be 7th and 8th graders. The design of these first two years is to celebrate the individuality of each young person and their creative potential. Class time, therefore, revolves around a variety of topics that help each participant reflect upon their individuality within the context of a loving faith community.  The Rite-13 portion of our youth curriculum culminates in the Rite-13 Ceremony, which is a rite of passage loosely akin to a Jewish Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah.

In addition to regular class time, Rite-13ers also have occasional opportunities to gather for non-Sunday morning activities, such as participating in the annual Hike for Hope at Merrimack College, taking a trip to theCommon Cathedral” in downtown Boston, or participating in an overnight retreat.  The group also gathers for social events such as a movie night, a pizza party, or a trip to a local bowling alley.

If you have any questions about Rite-13, please e-mail Kathy Serrano.
