Welcome & Fellowship

Welcoming And Fellowship

Being a warm and welcoming congregation is very important to us here at Christ Church. The church as a whole and the Newcomers Committee specifically strives to make our newcomers feel comfortable and welcomed. Sharing in fellowship, whether through coffee hour, church suppers, our Men’s Fellowship, our Ladies Night Out, volunteering at the Andover Thrift Shop, or at events such as our Crafts in the Park, gives us intergenerational opportunities to get to know each other better and build up our common life. We invite you to learn more about these ministries of our parish and to join us in fellowship outside of our worship experience.

Newcomers Committee

The Newcomers Committee work to make our newcomers feel welcome. Some of the ways they do this are greeting newcomers after church, answering questions, manning a newcomers table, keeping published information current for newcomers, hosting Newcomers "Taste and See" in the fall and a Newcomers Brunch in the spring, and officially welcoming our newest members in our New Member Welcome Liturgies. The Newcomers Subcommittee of the Vestry makes up the Newcomers Committee. Please contact Louisa Neissa if you are interested in joining this ministry, or if you are a newcomer and have questions!

Fellowship

The church hosts various fellowship opportunities throughout the year. Often these will be suppers around special seasonal holidays, like the Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras-themed dinner right before Lent begins. We have several potluck lunches after church during the year, as well as occasional events at the Rectory (the blue house to the right of the church).

Most years also contain a "funraiser" (also a fundraiser) event either in the spring or the fall.

Look for more details about these fun, intergenerational social events in the e-Prophet!

Christ Church Ladies Night Out!

Open to all women of Christ Church, the purpose of these events is purely social -- a get-together once a month, taking turns to host at houses, and get to know each other better! The group occasionally has a joint "mixer" with the Men's Fellowship group. Appetizers and desserts are served - if you'd like to bring something, please sign up through the link in the e-Prophet. If you have any questions about this group, please e-mail Diane Huntress.

Men's Fellowship

All men in the parish are invited to join the Men's Fellowship. The sole purpose of this group is to encourage fellowship and build community for the men of Christ Church. Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month and the locations vary. Keep an eye out in the eProphet and Sunday Prophet for meeting times and locations. If you are interested in joining us or learning more, please e-mail Jon Vacik.

Coffee Hour

The Christ Church Coffee Hour Ministry provides a warm and welcoming gathering each Sunday morning. Old friends and new are welcomed each week with a hot cup of coffee and some goodies to sustain us during our visit. This is an easy and fun way to support the life of the parish – if you’d like more information or to join this ministry, please contact Louisa Neissa
